Three-time World Player of the Year Ronaldo recently received an offer to play for French team Paris Saint-Germain amidst the flurry of attention he has recently received. The injury-ridden Brazilian is coming off of a near career-ending knee injury and is finally ready to begin training again.

After suffering the injury eight months ago, Ronaldo was released by AC Milan over the summer. While nursing his injury, Ronaldo’s options are remarkably many as he has become an acquisition target for Manchester City and still has the option to remain with Flamengo.
“Paris is a city that I love and they have a great project to win the league title,” Ronaldo told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“However, at City I have Robinho, who is a great friend of mine.
“But we will see, in the past few days we have spoken.
“For the time being, my only aim is to return to playing, the rest will follow.”

In what turns out to be a huge loss for Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, arguably their best player, has chosen to sit out saying that he needs more than just one training session with his teammates before he takes to the pitch with them.
This is a huge hit for Liverpool. Not only is Gerrard out for the Man U. match, but Fernando Torres is also out. In addition, United welcomes their new striker, Berbatov, who promises to add even more punch to their lineup alongside Rooney.

The question I have, though, is why isn’t Gerrard playing in the match? I understand that he had groin surgery only a month ago, but it seems that the excuse of not wanting to play only having had one session with “the boys” isn’t entirely reasonable. I would think that the Man U game would be the perfect starting point to see where one is at physically and mentally for that matter. The other reason that he should play is because his team needs him. Torres’ injury is a huge loss for Liverpool and Gerrard is the clear leader of the team. Shouldn’t he step up and lead his team into a huge Champion’s League match? The answer seems pretty clear to me.

Apparently the move of Robinho from Real Madrid to Manchester City is causing quite the controversy. He has stated from the beginning that he wanted to be transferred to Chelsea first. However, a blunder by their marketing group and the fact that they couldn’t come up with the transfer money put that trade to rest. Manchester City, who was recently bought out by the Abu Dhabi Group, made an offer at the last minute and signed Robinho.
According to ESPN Soccernet, the reason Robinho wanted to leave Real was because they wouldn’t release him to play in the Beijing olympics, saying he had an injury to deal with.
Even the great Pele got in on the action of criticizing Robinho, saying he “needs some serious counselling” as he had been “badly advised” by people close to him.
Robinho countered by saying that while he accepts Pele’s criticism, he would have done the same thing.
